DNA of the design

Design and performance are important criteria for today’s car buyers, regardless of the vehicle. The new face of Chevrolet cars offers distinctive lighting that makes every car instantly recognizable as a member of the Chevrolet family, day or night. The Spark, Cruze, and Malibu have a redesigned front look more refined while maintaining their athletic flanks. “The new face of the 2019 Chevrolet cars is distinguished by an individual look that exemplifies Chevrolet heritage while displaying a distinctive appealing design,” says John Cafaro, global general manager of Chevrolet Design. About CHEVROLET

Founded in 1911 in Detroit, Chevrolet is one of the largest automotive brands in the world, operating in more than 100 countries and selling more than 4 million cars and trucks annually. Chevrolet offers its customers fuel-efficient vehicles that are characterized by attractive performance, heart-pounding design, active and passive safety features, and user-friendly technology, all at a great value. The Chevrolet brand, also known as “Chevy”, is a company manufacturing American automobiles, quickly joining the American company General Motors, in 1918. It is one of the largest manufacturers in the world, just behind Toyota, Ford and Volkswagen. Chevrolet has nearly 5 million vehicles sold worldwide in 2012. But this brand announced to withdraw from the European market in 2016, its cohabitation with Opel, another brand of the same group, being very rough in Europe. Its logo has no specific origins, but A very likely version would be that the Chevrolet logo is actually a kind of Swiss cross as Louis Chevrolet is of Swiss origin.

The founder of the brand, Louis Chevrolet, cycling and racing champion, is from Switzerland. The other founder, William C. Durant, is none other than the founder of the General Motors Group. Louis Chevrolet had a lot of success as a racing driver in the USA. Become famous, he managed to obtain the funds to launch his own brand of cars. Before starting, Louis Chevrolet had been a mechanic and driver for the brands Fiat but especially Buick New York. William C. Durant contacted him for the design of a car in his name, Louis Chevrolet being famous and popular in the United States. William C. Durant and Louis Chevrolet moved into a garage in Detroit, Michigan, and Chevrolet’s role was to build a prototype for a passenger car that would bear their names. Louis Chevrolet received the help of great engineers of that time. They designed a four-cylinder engine and a six-cylinder engine. On May 30, 1911, the announcement was made that a factory of the company Durant-Chevrolet was going to be built. The Chevrolet Classic Six 1911 was the first Chevrolet to be sold, and it cost $ 2,150, much more than its Ford counterpart.

From 1913, Louis Chevrolet left the company after many differences with Durant, and as the contract that was signed at the inception of the company provided that if Louis Chevrolet left, he had to let Durant his name and cars, Louis Chevrolet left empty-handed, depriving himself of an incredible fortune. Durant took the opportunity to merge all his firms under the name Chevrolet. Chevrolet’s six-cylinder engine wreaked havoc in the 1920s with the release of the legendary STOVEBELT SIX model. This model is an imminent success since it will remain the star engine until 1953. This has allowed Chevrolet cars to have a solid reputation for any event. In 1953, when Harley Earl was at the head of the company, several renowned Chevrolet models will follow one another, like the Chevrolet Bel Air of 1953, the Chevrolet Impala and the Chevrolet Corvette of 1954. Similarly, the V8 and Pickup ranges and luxury sedans will revolutionize the world of business. Thereafter, their mythical models will follow one another, adding Chevrolet Corsair, Cheverly and Nova. The Chevrolet Cavalier is better known for its sales figures than for the vehicle itself, but all know it in North America. There are obviously the slightly muscular vehicles, like the Chevrolet Camaro, a direct competitor of the Ford Mustang, and the Chevrolet Corvette, the North American race car, which gives the brand one of the best sales figures in the world.

3 Chevrolet cars undergo changes for 2019

A few days after the spread of the rumor that the Chevrolet Sonic subcompact vanished from the market, Chevrolet announced some changes for three of its cars for the 2019 model year. The most significant changes are visible outside since Cruze, Malibu and Spark all receive a harmonized front end. However, some significant mechanical changes are also made to Cruze and Malibu for 2019.

The minor exterior redesign of the three models involves modifying the two front grids. They are now larger than before. The two overlapping grids are separated by a chrome band that incorporates the Chevrolet logo in the case of the Malibu and Cruze while the logo of the Spark is in the center of the upper grid. At the same time, the taillights, as well as the wheels, are reworked. These few aesthetic changes are accompanied by mechanical modifications for Cruze and Malibu. As for the compact sedan, it abandons the manual transmission to retain only the services of the current six-speed automatic transmission. However, the gasoline and diesel engines remain the same.

In the case of the Malibu, the 6-speed automatic transmission of the 1.5-liter turbocharged engine model is replaced by a CVT transmission. The engine remains unchanged.Chevrolet is also adding an RS version to the Malibu. The RS is Chevrolet’s answer to other more “sporty” models of mid-size sedans currently on the market, such as the Honda Accord Sport, the Toyota Camry XSE and the Volkswagen Passat R-Line. The RS package includes a black grille, exclusive 18-inch wheels, and a dual muffler. Finally, a new infotainment system called Chevrolet Infotainment 3 will take place in the Malibu and Cruze while the Spark can be equipped, as an option, with a low-speed automatic braking system.

Despite the leak of photos of his latest sports gem, Chevrolet has waited for the lift NAIAS to reveal some of the features of his latest, the Z06. And they are crispy. Starting with the performance of this version Z, which characterizes the sports, but which takes again the all-aluminum chassis well born of the LT7. Under the bonnet’s huge, two-tone hood is the new V8 6.2 l LT4 supercharged by Eaton supercharger installed in the middle of the V. Already equipped with direct fuel injection, deactivation of low-load cylinders and variable valve timing, this V8 delivers 625 hp and 861 Nm of torque. At over 20,000 rpm, 5,000 rpm higher than the Corvette ZR1 LS9, the endless Eaton Corvette was not a wimp.

At the driver’s choice, the transmission is either a seven-speed manual transmission or a new eight-speed robotic gearbox with paddles on the steering wheel. This is a dual-clutch GM manufacturing device, controllable by paddles driving and whose fathers ensure that the progressiveness tourist look is equivalent to that of a converter box. Its calculator is capable of performing 160 operations per second and a gearshift would be up to eight-hundredths of a second faster than the offered double clutch transmission of the Porsche 911, cited as a reference. The Z06 did not go far for inspiration. The Z06 did not go far for inspiration.

What would be the use of racing if it did not translate into production cars? Corvette, a legendary model of Chevrolet, has built its reputation since its beginnings (1955 anyway) in the manner of Porsche. Rough on all the world’s circuits, the Corvette, generation after generation, has led a sporting career that has refined, over time, its somewhat crude foundry technology. With its already extroverted lines, the Corvette still seemed at the end of the role of design, but the designers have nevertheless managed to put a second layer of sportiness on a body that was not lacking. But it’s not just aesthetic or aerodynamic. No wonder then that we find the best lessons of the race on this model which inherits, for example, a differential electronic locking, oversized steel brakes, and an adjustable suspension.
