2019 – JEEP CHEROKEE
Although it was revealed later in December, it was at the 2018 Detroit Motor Show that the 2019 Jeep Cherokee had all the details and images revealed. The Jeep SUV gets a completely revamped image thanks to the disappearance of its controversial earlier design, based on the already customary aesthetics of separate front headlights. Although the changes practiced are not so significant, the design of the model separates drastically from its predecessor. Now showing a closer picture of their line siblings, who already have the brand’s new design language. In the front part one notices how the characteristic and controversial double optic front disappears to adopt new superior headlights of greater size, whose lines are still very torn, but more similar to the optics of the Jeep Compass. On the rear also new shapes appear in the lanterns, again inspired by those that are mounted in the compact SUV. Otherwise, the changes really are minimal. There are some slight touches on the grille and bumpers, and in the interior new materials used only in the center console, changes in the part intended to house the user’s smartphone and some chrome frames, such as those of the ventilation outlets.
The American brand has not yet revealed the composition of the full line, but confirmed the engines that will be available in the American market. The new in the mechanical part is the new gasoline engine of 4 cylinders and 2.0 liters, that counts on supercharging and develops 273 hp and 400 Nm of maximum torque. This is the same engine that can be found in the semi-hybrid version of the new Jeep Wrangler 2018, but under the hood of the Cherokee 2019 does not rely on the 48-volt electric system. In addition, it maintains the 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine and the 3.2-liter V6, delivering 182 hp and 275 hp respectively. Perhaps for some markets like Europe, for example, it offers at least one diesel engine option. But this has not yet been confirmed. Other innovations in the mechanical part are found in the update of the system of total traction and in the automatic transmission of 9 speeds that uses the model. In addition, the Cherokee has undergone a slight weight reduction, estimated at around 90 pounds, which will allow it to improve its consumption figures, which were not revealed by the brand either, although it is expected that it will be exactly the new 2.0-liter engine. which will get better numbers in this regard.
